Focused Support for Specific Behaviors

Not every child needs a full-time ABA therapy program. Sometimes families only need help addressing a specific behavior challenge at home, in school, or in the community. That’s where our Behavioral Consultation services come in.

With this flexible approach, one of our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) partners with your family to assess the concern, create a targeted plan, and provide hands-on parent training so you can feel confident managing the behavior moving forward.

What Is Behavioral Consultation?

Behavioral consultation is a short-term ABA service designed for families who need support with a few specific behaviors, rather than a comprehensive therapy plan.

A BCBA will:

  • Visit your home, school, or community setting to observe your child
  • Identify the reasons behind the challenging behavior
  • Develop a personalized treatment plan to reduce the behavior
  • Provide parent training and coaching so you can reinforce strategies consistently

Because this model is more focused, it usually requires a shorter treatment period than early intervention or ongoing ABA programs.

When Is Behavioral Consultation Helpful?

Families often choose behavioral consultation when they need help with:

  • Tantrums and meltdowns that feel hard to manage
  • Aggression or self-injury
  • Sleep struggles or bedtime resistance
  • Toileting challenges
  • Mealtime concerns like picky eating or food refusal
  • Difficulty following directions at home or school

This service is especially valuable when a child has already made progress in ABA but new behaviors emerge that require a targeted plan.

Parent Training and Family Involvement

One of the most important parts of behavioral consultation is parent training. Our BCBAs not only provide recommendations but also teach caregivers step-by-step strategies to manage behaviors consistently.

This means you’ll gain the skills to handle challenges confidently, long after the consultation period ends.

Flexible and Convenient Support

Behavioral consultation can be provided in:

  • Your home – addressing real-world challenges where they occur
  • Your child’s school – collaborating with teachers for consistency
  • Community settings – practicing skills in everyday environments

We make it easy to bring support where your child needs it most.

"Thrive has been a game changer in my son's life. We moved to Arizona a year ago and I was unsure of where to go for ABA. My son took the year off of ABA, but then I saw Thrive was opening. I quickly called and they got my son in quickly. We love their amazing staff members. They help my son work to become his best and he asks to go everyday. Thank you so much Thrive for being authentic and a fun environment for my child to become his best."
